Be2Souls – Art with soul

It was at the hands of Sónia Sultuane that Be2Souls was born this year, a brand dedicated to the “art that wears clothes.” The idea came after a trip the artist made to Greece. “I went to visit the Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum in Athens, and I had the opportunity to see the Debra Rapoport exhibition there, which inspired me.”

Upon returning to Mozambique, Sultuane decided to produce unique and exclusive pieces, using unusual materials and “objects that completely transgress their use and function.” The aim? Change their original form and give them a new lease of life.

About the origin of the name, it was thought of a concept to inspire, as she says. It is a concept associated with fashion, to the art that is worn, and which implies, whenever there is an opportunity, collaborating with another “artist soul.”

Be2Souls also represents a challenge for those who want to get out of their comfort zone and let themselves be inspired.

As for the inspiration behind the pieces, it comes from all sides, according to Sultuane. “It’s the colours, the shapes, the materials, the architecture, the infinite possibilities of thinking about materials in a different way.”

As an art brand “with soul”, Be2Souls is also concerned with sustainability. To this end, she uses reused and unconventional materials (drawer handles, straws and mouthpieces for shisha, for example), but without compromising the artist’s vision for each piece. And Sultuane adds: “my next collection, which will come out later this year, is already thinking about the issue of sustainability, repurpose (reuse of materials) and the environment.”

Still without a store – physical or online – Be2Souls finds through its Instagram account the right way to reach its clientele, which is quite heterogeneous by the way.

An ambitious and curious project, which has already crossed borders to Europe and Brazil, Be2Souls also represents, according to the artist, a challenge for those who want to get out of their comfort zone and let themselves be inspired.
