Sazia Sousa – With how many keys is the technological present built?

When we talk about technology in Mozambique, it is impossible not to include Sazia Sousa’s name in the same sentence. More than 10 years ago, she created what would be the company of reference in the national market. Furthermore, Sazia has not limited the impact of her work to Technoplus. She is involved in projects thar support female entrepreneurship and mentoring. Curious? Get to know a little more about this small big company, managed by a big businesswoman with a clear sense of future.

Sazia Sousa’s career is frequently intertwined with the creation of Technoplus, but the impact of her work goes beyond her company. Although her career began before that, it was in 2010 that what would become, years later, one of the biggest references in the technology sector in Mozambique was officially born. “I was working as a freelancer and clients started to become companies, hence the need to leave the informal market and have the company registered to continue providing services,” she shares. And to this day, Technoplus is still on the market and has her as its General Manager.

Nowadays, Technoplus is diverse and composed of a team of young, hopeful people and who believe in the development of Mozambique and that the role of IT technicians includes involvement in social projects of digital inclusion for three target audiences: children, universities and businesses.

One of Sazia Sousa’s concerns is equal access to technology. “The low influx of women in the industry conditions what is being produced in terms of technologies. Therefore, whenever there is an opportunity to encourage them to take an interest in the area, I do so through mentoring and digital inclusion projects.”

On the other hand, the truth is that a lot has changed in the last decade. According to the founder of Technoplus, this was already an area in clear expansion. “Our approach to the market has always been to make use of technologies to make companies more competitive.”

Today, the sector is more demanding, the market is increasingly receptive and better understanding the urgency and need to use technological solutions. And Sazia’s objective becomes even clearer: “to implement projects that have a positive impact on our community and that can be scalable within the Mozambican context, taking into account the limitations we have and that can be applied in similar contexts in other countries.”
