Anantara – Kaleidoscopic Landscapes
In the beginning, there was the sky. Then, the sea. The landscape like a hall of mirrors. Perhaps, in an idyllic part of the horizon, the sky may mimic the choreography of a waterfall and pour into this vast Indian mass of water. Bazaruto is an island, thus a combination of land and sea, a set of kaleidoscopic landscapes that insinuate themselves in each movement.
Anantara is the gateway resort to the larger island that gives the archipelago its name, off the coast of Vilankulo. And from here, you can explore both Anantara and nature. The dazzling experience of nature. The bungalows are connected by wooden walkways, amidst trees where birds nest.
The winds that power the sea have erected sand dunes that take us more than 30km away from the valley. And it seems we have discovered the backstage of a performance by day and night, the fine sand like a grand audience to witness the sun rise and set. Santa Carolina Island, another destination reached from here, is like an open-air aquarium.
At night, by the seaside, it’s easy to understand why the World Travel Awards picked Anantara as Africa’s best romantic resort. With feet deep in the sand, a glass of wine, the sound of the waves like an orchestra, trying to guess the silhouettes drawn by the white ink of the moon on the canvas of sea.
