WINDOW  – TELA, a new path for national art

If there is a good example where unity is strength, TELA is one of them. Thus, from the union of several entities, a lot of willpower and creativity in the mix, a project was born that gives substance to the Mozambican creative industry. But after all, with how many brushes is this canvas drawn?

In practice, TELA is a space. A digital, interactive and dynamic room, which serves as a stage where artists, curators and cultural promoters come together with the aim of documenting, disseminating and promoting the visual arts created and produced in Mozambique.

This project results from the union of several cultural entities: 16Neto, Franco-Mozambican Cultural Centre, Fernando Leite Couto Foundation, Kulungwana – the Association for Cultural Development, Mozambican-German Cultural Centre, Camões – Portuguese Cultural Center and Spanish Cooperation.

In the field of painting, we find national names such as Gumatsy, Nália Agostinho or Elias Manjate; in ceramics, João Donato and Massunganhane; in photography, we can find the work of Yassin Forte, Mário Macilau or Iris Marina. In sculpture, we will have available the creations of Gonçalo Mabunda or Titos Pelembe. In a more content-minded version, the platform also features artists who work with digital formats, such as Wilson Uanheta, George Matsimbe or Chris Tó Inácio.

The platform is managed in alignment with all cultural institutions responsible for curating and publishing artists and exhibitions, in order to ensure their development and dissemination. Here, each visitor will be able to find Mozambican artists by visiting individual and collective exhibitions. Like art, this space is a living entity and is constantly being updated.
