Nyau Gallery – An art house

Each corner and object in this gallery has a story that is worth discovering and enjoying.

Imagine immersing yourself in the different forms of artistic expression of Mozambican art, without having to travel the 800,000 kilometres that make up Mozambique. This is what the Nyau Gallery proposes, located in one of the main arteries of the city of Maputo.

In the various compartments and corridors, which used to make up a family home, art can be seen through painting, sculpture, crafts, ready-to-wear fashion, among others. Renowned artists such as Reinata Sadimba and new artists such as Kester have the best of their creations on display in this space, for enjoyment and sale.

Each corner and object in this gallery has a story that is worth discovering and enjoying. The decoration was designed in a provocative way and has subliminal messages in every detail, such as the power of women, building peace and preserving the environment. The vestiges of wars have gained a special corner — bullet casings and other war materials turned into objects of art form a peace room.

To close off a visit to this place and discover the flavours of the land, a visit to the restaurant is recommended. Original Mozambican and international recipes recreated with local ingredients — such as honey from the Gorongosa mountains and clams from Inhaca Island — will guarantee an unforgettable tasting moment.
